Q. Why hire PanNeubean Steel Band? A. QUALITY*ARTISTRY*PROFESSIONALISM - PanNeubean Steel prides itself in being an "authentic professional steel band". I play steelpan and sing. Along with my Masters of Music degree from the New England Conservatory, I also have 21 years of performance experience as an Army Bandsman. I take pride in showcasing my Jamaican/Caribbean heritage. Unlike many local steelbands we have numerous video's that show our talent. Don't be fooled by only studio recordings or lack of live footage. Each of our band members have impressive resumes. www.youtube.com/panneubeansteel

Q. Why name the band PanNeubean Steel and how do you pronounce it? A. PanNeubean Steel pronounced (Pan-nü-be-an Ste-al) was created to provide a musical outlet for the Steelpan. The name is a combination of the Steelpan’s recent invention and its Pan-African- Caribbean origin.
Q. Does PanNeubean Steel perform styles other than Caribbean music? A. PanNeubean Steel was created to showcase the Steelpan’s versatility. While reggae, soca, and calypso are traditionally 'caribbean', we have incorporated a variety of musical styles into our repertoire. The Steelpan adds the Caribbean “spice”. REGGAE, SOCA, CALYPSO, CLASSICAL, JAZZ, FUSION, FUNK, ZYDECO, R&B, CONTEMPORARY and LATIN. In other words we "Caribbean-ize" a spectrum of musical styles while still focusing on what is audibly still caribbean. Perfect for Caribbean Themed events.
Q. What are sequences or background tracks? Does PanNeubean Steel use them? A. Sequences or backing tracks are pre-recorded recordings of a band used to accompany a lead vocal or instrument. They are available so that vocalist, instrumentalist or in this case PanNeubean Steel SOLO may play along with it to provide a fuller band sound.
Q. Do you perform for Fundraisers and Non-Profit Organizations? A. Yes, we perform for both and periodically will decide to lower our rates as a way to donate some of our time and musical talent to a worthy cause. But, please do not assume that "we will" or that "we should" make any free contributions on your behalf.
Q. What are your rates? A. Our rates are based on numerous details, but generally range between $300-$3500/SOLO-QUINTET.
Travel distance, type of event, number of guests, sound reinforcement required and performance length are all considered. We also take pride in our continued dedication to Quality, Professionalism and Artistry. We are not just your average sort of caribbean band comprised of members who dabble in caribbean music. All of our band members have years of life experience: Boston Carnival, Steel orchestra, Caribbean roots/decent/heritage, Trinidad Carnival, Reggae Festivals, backfill for Reggae/Soca/Calypso Recording Artists, Touring, recording, teaching music from Kindergarten to college level... etc.
