PanNeubean Steel
Featured Music Artist in The Daily News Tribune "The beat of a different drum"

"My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Jefferey Clayton as a music vendor for our wedding.  We decided to
have a caribbean style wedding in Newport.  I researched several steel drummers/bands and was not impressed with
most of the groups.  I came across PanNeubean Steel and it turned out that they were performing locally.  Once we saw
the band, we knew that we wanted to hire them.  We were very impressed and it's unfortunate that our budget did not
allow us the hire the entire band.  However, we were able the hire Jefferey to perform the music for the ceremony and
cocktail hour.

Our outdoor wedding became an indoor wedding due to a horrible storm right before the ceremony.  Jefferey was very
easy to work with under the stressful circumstances.  He was able to set up quickly and was a professional throughout
the night.  Our guests are still commenting on how well the steel drum sounded.  Some even thought that a cd was
playing and were pleasantly surprised when they saw the steel pan next to the wedding party.

I would highly recommend both the PanNeubean Steel Band as well as Jefferey Clayton for steel pan solo.  They have
many years of experience and are all truly professionals at what they do."
"Jody and I would like to thank you for providing the ceremony and cocktail hour music at our wedding on September
12th, 2009 at the Eisenhower House in Newport , Rhode Island . Your ability to easily adapt to the challenges of the day
such as moving the ceremony indoors and having the cocktail hour on the porch instead of on the lawn helped make the
day successful for us and our guests. The music of the steel drums set the atmosphere for our day and added a special
touch we were hoping for even though it was cloudy and rainy day!  The services you offered from selecting you in the
beginning to the completion of our wedding was everything we could have asked for and more!

Thank you!"
"I wish to express what a pleasure it was to work with PanNeubean Steel for our May 26, 2007 wedding!  We had a
classy, tropical themed wedding so we requested a duo to play at both the ceremony and cocktail hour.  Working with
Jefferey Clayton was a delight-we did most of our contacts by email starting last June.  Whenever I had a question, he
was quick to email me back and we had a few phone conversations to finalize everything in the weeks leading to the

What he came up with and played completely surpassed my expectations.  The ceremony went so smoothly and the
music sounded amazing in the large cathedral church.  People were commenting all day about our ceremony music and
how great it was.  Although neither myself nor my husband were at the cocktail hour to hear the music, guests were
raving about the band.  They said it was wonderful to walk into the reception hall and really feel like they could have been
on an island in the Caribbean.  Overall, the guests' enjoyment of PanNeubean Steel is still one of the highlights we hear
most about our big day.  Thank you Jeff for a wonderful addition to our amazing wedding day!"
"This is a long overdue thank you for infusing our wedding on August 20, 2006 with such great music and spirit.  From
the saxophone to the vocals, we were blown away by the quality and magic you guys created.
Our guests said they have never been so compelled to dance at a wedding as they were when PanNeubean Steel played
their dead-on renditions of reggae and calypso classics.  You did such a great job getting people involved and just
smiling on that dance floor.  Most special for us, was when you began the night with "Waiting in Vain" for our first dance
and did such a spectacular job.  Thank you, Thank you.  We hope to be invited to a wedding that you guys are playing
or at least come up with an event to hire the band for."
"I first heard PanNeubean Steel at my mother's wedding and we all thought they were absolutely amazing.  They played
exactly what the crowd wanted to hear and they got nothing but compliments.  So when my friends went looking for a
band for their big day, of course I recommended PanNeubean Steel.  It worked out fabulously!  This wedding brought
together an entirely different group of people and the band's sound still suited the party perfectly.  Excellent
performance!  Beautifully mellow or flat-out rocking, PanNeubean Steel's broad range of styles is sure to include
something that everyone will enjoy."
"Thank you for helping to create a wonderful day for us!  Your performance was outstanding, captivating and magical.
We will never forget this experience for the rest of our lives.  Special thanks to your saxophonist who came through
with those special last minute requests that really made all the difference in the world."
"Back in the spring of this past year we started looking for a band for my sister's 50th birthday party.  Reggae music
was what we were after since she had lived in the Caribbean and loved that type of music.  I scoured the internet
searching for information about New England Reggae groups.  I came across PanNeubean Steel on a beautifully
designed, professional and informative site.  We hired them for the event after sampling the music on-line.

The day of the party the weather was less than perfect.  In fact it was a torrential downpour.  Since we had the party in
a tent on the beach, less than 15 feet from the ocean, you could only imagine our anxiety.  Soon after we set up, Jeff
Clayton came on the scene and proceeded with a very professional, positive attitude.  He put our minds at ease.  The
music started and the guests immediately began dancing and didn't stop all night.  We all soon forgot about the
conditions outside of the tent and began to lose ourselves in the wonderful music of PanNeubean Steel.

Many of the guests were asking where we found this incredible band.  This very talented group was the highlight of the
event.  Thank you...thank you for making our evening a most memorable one!  We would not hesitate and look forward
to using PanNeubean Steel again."
"We were delighted with PanNeubean Steel at our wedding in June.  Your very friendly band energized all to the grass to
dance!  The warm weather was a perfect match for your Caribbean Island Sound and what a fine sound you made.

"When we added our "Fire and Ice" dessert party to Boston University's Reunion Weekend activities, we wanted
entertainment that would be something unique and impress our alumni, as well as complement our theme.  The
images conjured up by the
cool sounds of the steelpan were perfect!  Jefferey is a superb professional; his music is
engaging, lively, and fun and greatly added to the overall mood of the party.   Everyone had a great time.  Thank you,
Jefferey.  I look forward to next year and recommend you highly.

"As Director of the Providence College Summer Vocal Institute, I had an opportunity this past summer to employ
Jefferey Clayton of PanNeubean Steel to accompany a choral selection on steel pan.  The choral piece was (
) "Kyrie" from Caribbean Mass by Glenn McClure.  This particular composition required a variety of skills from
the steel pan player, all of which Mr. Clayton performed with outstanding musicianship.  The composition begins with a
20 bar rubato-style introduction in which the steel pan player and the pianist play together.  Although the part is written
out, the style is rather improvisational and requires the steel pan player to stretch bars and ad lib, a style at which Mr.
Clayton is very adept.  When the composition changed to a driving samba, Mr. Clayton displayed an excellent sense of
time and played the steel pan in a wonderful duet with the 90 voice choir displaying excellent ensemble skills.

All in all, performing with Jefferey Clayton was an exciting and musical experience that I would highly recommend to
other conductors of performing ensembles.  He is extremely professional in his promptness and attire and has a warm
personality making both rehearsal and performance an enjoyable experience.  I will not hesitate to call on Jefferey
Clayton in the future as the need arises. "

"I would like to extend my greatest thanks to the members of PanNeubean Steel for playing at a student body event at
MIT.  PanNeubean Steel was selected to introduce students to the origins of the steelpan and the music capabilities of
the instrument.  PanNeubean Steel demonstrated remarkable professionalism, knowlede of the steelpan, and great talent
for engaging the student body.

The attendees of the function heard about and listened to steelpan music, but were unaware of the history...The
members of PanNeubean Steel were very patient and instructive with allowing the students to engage with playing the
instrument, which resulted in vibrant expressions of content as they duplicated the instructions taught.

PanNeubean Steel's musicians rendered the students the opportunity to listen to their orchestra by entertaining them
with well-known compositions, which stimulated dancing and singing.  The performance was brilliant as they were able to
create a very festive environment for the students despite the anxiety of deadlines for homework and projects.

The PanNeubean Steel members exemplified high professionalism, great entertainment, and offered a successful delivery
for creating a continued relationshiop for future events.  I would recommend PanNeubean STel fot offer great
entertainment and educational services with the use of their steelpan orchestra expertise."

"Just a note to let you know how much we enjoyed having PanNeubean Steel come to Moses Brown.  The children loved
the music and learning about the pan drum.  It was a new experience for them as we have never had any type of steel
drums perform for us in an assembly.  The children were still excited about your performance when I met with them the
following week and had lots of wonderful things to say about what they saw and heard at the assembly.  You did a
wonderful job of keeping the children interested while you talk to them.

Thanks for coming to Moses Brown.  I hope we will be able to have you return again in the future."
"I wanted to thank you again for coming to help us open the school year.  The kids loved, loved the music and are still
talking about it.  In fact, I received several e-mails over the weekend from parents, thanking me for making the first day
of school so welcoming, and saying their kids went home sailing from the day and the live music!..."

"Shake it if you've got it", said Jefferey Clayton, the lead drummer of PanNeubean Steel, to the assembled Parker
students and staff last Thursday afternoon.  And just like that, under the warm September sun, we shook it.  Our first
day of school ended with a combination ode-to-the music of the Islands, our cross divisional exploration of our whole
school music text, Once on This Island, and a good old dance party...

...And then we danced!

PanNeubean Steel provided the final beats of our day, explaining at first the roots of the steel drum, its origin and
relevance in contemporary music and Island culture, and its distinction as an instrument still undergoing evolution of
form and function.  We heard the range of the "symphony" of steel drums, and then our musicians took over, creating
their own sounds and inviting us all to jump up and use the music to shape the end of our day.

Welcome back everyone, welcome to our new year!"

"I had the pleasure of collaborating with Jefferey Clayton this past spring, in the preparation and performance of a choral
piece with my Newton All-City Honors Chorus Treble Singers.

In looking for a steel pan player to accompany us on (
CLICK LINK TO LISTEN) "I'm Part of the Rainbow", a
contemporary arrangement in calypso style by Glenn McClure, I discovered Jefferey Clayton through his website.

Jefferey and I worked together to develop an arrangement that far surpassed what was on the printed score.  He was
thorough in his preparation and very knowledgeable and informative about stylistic practices.  In performance, he was
sensitive to balance and very much of a team player with the chorus and other instrumentalists.

Jefferey was congenial and obviously enjoyed working with my students.  Overall, he was very professional in every
respect.  I would welcome the opportunity to work with Jefferey
Clayton again in the future."

"Thank you, again, for being such an incredible part of Evergreen's FIRST ever Multicultural Festival!  It was a complete
pleasure to work with PanNeubean Steel.  Your kindness, flexibility, generosity and unwavering positivity are both
commendable and admirable.  I sincerely hope that I'll have the pleasure of doing business with you again!
"I recently hosted a party aboard one of the Boston Harbor Cruises and via their website, hired PanNeubean Steel.  From
my first contact with Jeff to the last moment of the trip, their professionalism, energy, and communication was second
to none.

I would give the highest recommendation for the band, as they made the party the success that it was.  They had the
entire party dancing within the first 15 minutes of the trip and kept the party hopping until the boat docked."

"I want to extend my thanks to you for your professionalism during your performance August 27, 2004 prior to the
Kenny Chesney event at the Tweeter Center Mansfield.  PanNeubean Steel performed at a hospitality event in a private
VIP area for the Tweeter Center and its box and season seat members.  The band provided a warm tropical sound for
our guests to enjoy.  We had one of the best turnouts that evening.  You were a huge hit with the clients and staff!

On behalf of the Tweeter Center and the VIP Staff we thank you again and look forward to working with you in the
"On behalf of all the Rotarians who attended the Caribbean Beach Party at our District Conference...I want to extend our
thanks and appreciation for  your performance that night.  Very honestly, I was very apprehensive about the whole
thing, particularly because this event was extremely important to me.  I had never met you nor had I ever seen you and
your associates perform.  I didn't know what to expect.  I had no reason to worry.

The infectious enthusiasm and obvious talent of you and the artists performing with you made the whole evening
probably the most successful conference event our District has ever had.  From the first note you played until the end of
this wonderful evening  you had everyone involved and enjoying themselves.  I can't tell you how many people have told
me what a special night is was, primarily due to your presence.  The representative from the President of Rotary
International, present that night, said the whole thing was a 'stroke of genius'.

Thank you so much for your efforts.  I highly recommend you to anyone who is planning an event of this type.  I only
wish we could do it again!"
"Your band sounds great, looks great, and made us feel like people worthy of such quality.  You are a morale booster."
"I was in a jam finding someone to play during our Diversity Week Celebration, but PanNeubean Steel was available and
really made a difference.  They came early and set-up without any disturbance to anyone eating in the dining room
already.  All the students that attended really enjoyed their music, I watched everyone as they entered the dining room
after a long day of classes and other hassles that college students go through, but once they heard the music being
played, their faces instantly lit up, it was quite funny, but enjoyable.

I would definitely call them back to play at our college again in the future, and I'm recommending them to other
colleagues in the area."

"PanNeubean Steel was fantastic, very professional, easy to work with, very flexible and accomodating.  The sound was
excellent and we really felt like we were on the beach in the islands.  Everyone had a fabulous time and we hope to make
it an annual event!"
"I can't tell you enough how much fun we all had last week.  The music that PanNeubean Steel provided was superb.
You were a delight to watch and listen to.  I must say that your performance far exceeded our expectations.

What a performance!  Thank you so much for a wonderful day.  We all had a super time and I am amazed of the number
of people who were dancing.  We didn't want to leave...It was a memorable day!"
"The ladies at Rosie's Place had the marvelous opportunity to hear PanNeubean Steel perform on April 17, 2007.  It only
took three members of the band to turn our dining room into a concert hall.  They had the women up on their feet,
dancing and singing together.  It was a rare experience, and an afternoon we won't soon forget.  Of course, they are
welcome to return any time-we hope it will be soon."

"Absolutely FABULOUS!  PanNeubean Steel is an authentic steel band that transports your guests to the tropics!  We
received rave reviews from our clients and guests; and will continue to offer them as a music vendor here at the CoCo
Key Water Resort at the Sheraton Ferncroft."
